Remember: 11/11 @ 11am

For the Commonwealth countries it is Remembrance Day, for the US it is Veterans Day, and for others it might be called Armistice Day. However you reference this day, it was at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 we formerly saw the end to World War I with the German signing of the Armistice [although the cease-fire was on the Western Front, hostility still continued in former Russia & Ottoman Empires for some time].

May we stop and remember those that have fallen for our freedom and provide homage to those who have served for their country.

In Flanders fields, the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below…
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields…
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands, we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields…
– 1915 Lieutenant Colonel John Alexander McCrae [ Canada]

On a personal note: I will remember the life and times of two people in particular: William Nicholls my Grandfather who fought in World War II as apart of the infamous ‘Rats of Tobruk‘; And Mavis Victory Peace Lewis my Grandmother, for it was on this day in 1918 that she was born, and hence the influence for her name.

    beautiful post!

Thanks for the compliment on my logo. Since I am a designer I figured I should probably put my skills to work lol.

Have fun with your POM party! I cannot wait to see it. I had 11 people at mine and it was crazy! I’m following your blog now!
