Bongo room || breakfast
The Bongo Room has been around for a long time and it is still drawing a crowd for a good reason, they serve up quality dishes and tasty treats in a cozy and inviting space. The sunshine yellow tables, big booths to buddy up in with friends, and a long counter for dine and dash needs.

WHAT: Like anywhere in Chicago that serves good breakfast food get there before 10 on the weekends to avoid long lines, and ideally a table for 2 for even faster seating. The crowd pleasing ‘Chocolate Tower of French Toast‘ is a must [bittersweet chocolate chunk bread stuffed with maple mascarpone, banana crème brulee sauce, bananas & shaved chocolate what is not to love in that list], but share it with a friend or two this one is rich but ridiculously good and sets the bar for breakfast dessert items. The menu offers seasonal items so you can never get too complacent with the menu. On our last trip – the ‘Smoked Duck Benedict‘ made the stand out recommendation consisting of: toasted english muffins topped with smoked duck breast, poached eggs with a hollandaise sauce topped with crispy leeks [these were delicious] served with hash browns [perfectly seasoned with interest]. The giant-sized ‘lattes’ are also a welcome breakfast accompaniment here.
