High above the line || new york city

A clever New York City conversion of a disused freight train line built in the 30’s turned into an urban park with beautifully landscape gardens and amazing city views. The High Line project is a work in progress and we can’t wait to see and experience the new sections as they develop. The intent is to have the park run from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to 34th Street, between 10th & 11th Avenues. Currently the park runs from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street and officially opened on June 9, 2009. There are so many lovely twists and turns that take you on a path of discovery past beautiful buildings and wonderful Hudson River views. However, the most fun is that it gives you a peak into the lives of others: photographers at work in their studios; hotel guests in their rooms; people in their apartments …..great people watching from all angles.

Hi Valentine, It is a great place for taking pictures of exciting people. I spent hours there on these wooden chairs, relaxing and watching stars and wannabes passing by. Thanks for reminding me :) All the best Andreas

I did this last weekend and it was lovely…then stopped at The Standard for drinks, which were even lovelier. Just about to write about it actually!
