Quick lunch || belly shack

Hungry and looking for a quick-lunch stop on the go? Pop in under the ‘L’ tracks at Western & Milwaukee for some tasty latin / asian inspired dishes at Belly Shack. I love the interior space its industrial chic, with recycled elements, polished concrete floors, communal tables, and fun graffiti. The serving sizes are perfect and each bite is packed with interesting flavors. The food is actually healthy for fast-food and they use organic and locally sourced where available.

I always gravitate towards are the quinoa salad with its pear & fennel kimchi, sautéed mushrooms and lettuce leaves, it really is a salad wrap, a meal to itself. The belly-dog is good too, topped with pickled papaya & egg noodles it’s not to heavy and wards off hunger until dinner. I did get the tilapia sandwich as a special – delicious, loved the mustard and the watercress. I have never had the soft-serve ice-cream but it looks delicious [for the next trip].

The food is very reasonably priced and the menu although not extensive, it does have specials so there is always something new to try when you visit. It is a casual and friendly vibe, offering quick service and it’s even BYOB.
