5 o’clock cocktail || dark & stormy

Bermuda’s national drink the Dark’n’Stormy comes complete with a trademark. It is simple to make, consisting of three things: 1] dark rum over ice with some 2] ginger beer / ale and served with a 3] slice of lime. Some places add lime juice into the mix, I say stick with the original version. The one photographed above was enjoyed at Le Bar in the Sofitel here in Chicago. For $13.00 you get a cocktail some tasty bar snacks and to enjoy it in a cozy library-esque lobby bar of dark wood panel walls and deep purple upholstery with views over the park. Good people watching.

    Seriously my favorite cocktail ever. Just had one at In Fine Spirits in Andersonville last night! (Not my fave version…something off. Maybe it was the lime juice.)
