Bogotá || monserrate tour

We took the Teleférico cable car to the top of Monserrate climbing to 3,152 m (10,341 ft) to admire the view over Bogotá below at 2,625 metres (8,612 ft). It is a popular spot for religious pilgrimages. We went for a less religious pilgrimage – for coca tea – hoping it would cure our altitude sickness. We found some tea – but no luck, all it did as our driver stated it ‘…makes you happy, not hungry, and awake..’ that it did, super sweet [boy those Colombians love their sweet stuff]. There are a few restaurants at the top, of course a church, and a little market with ‘made in china’ trinkets & some food stalls [selling massive plates of tripe]. Touristy yes, but a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Upon our return we took the funicular for our descend, some like to hike up & down on foot which is entirely possible. TIP: There are no taxi stands so make sure you have a driver wait for you.

    “Just never forget to be dexterous and deft.
    And never mix up your right foot with your left.
    And will you succeed?
    Yes! You will, indeed!
